We are always in the process of "projects" here at
the center, and Linda and I also have our eyes set
on certain goals we feel God has put before us.
We'll try to keep this area updated with need,
progress and completion of each goal as it arises
and progresses.  Please pray over any or all of
these goals with us, and if you are drawn to one in
particular and want to give toward it, then we will
keep C.T.E.N.'s info at the bottom of this section.
Just remember to include a short note to explain
"this is for Jimmy and Linda Read, and specifically
for the
(name of project)  project they are working
on."

1] The Beltway Baptist Church team, from Abilene
Texas,  just got finished painting the main room of
our dorm.  It looks incredible guys!  We went with
two shades of gold;  a darker one on the walls that
receive a lot of sunlight, and a lighter one on the
other side.  Next, we're going to paint some
silhouettes of the guys praising on one wall (with a
verse of declaration alongside), playing basketball
on another and maybe jammin on the last one.
Exciting stuff, especially to them - they love it.

2]  Also, in the dorm, Linda got some incredible
curtains made for each room.  Very cool, and very
appreciated.

3]  As we left to come home, maintenance was
going to start on the dorm bathroom.  It's in pretty
bad shape.  This is something the ministry is going
to pay for but wanted to let you know so that once it's
done, we can share that as well.  They're planning
on replacing a couple of  toilets, fixing the showers
and painting.  Hallelujah!
What a blessing it is to pastor these guys.
They have such a pure passion for the
Lord.  From left, on drums, Nelson (who
also helps me with sound), Betinho - our
head worship leader, Jennifer - standing
next to him, Vovote - another great
worship leader, Joao - on congo drum
and Binario on bass (also an incredible
worshipper and responsible for setup).

Our boys, (from left in rear - Armando,
Rosaque, Vagner and Adrian, front -
Inoque and Chico) give some Texas
"howdys" to deliver.
So many of you have been praying for
Thabo.  He passed away this last week,
peacefully into the arms of Jesus.   I
thought it only fitting you should see his
beautiful face and hands.
For those of you with dial-up, you'll
probably be disappointed, but if you've got
high-speed internet, these few videos will
hopefully give you a taste of Mozambique.
Each is about 40 seconds long. Enjoy!
PS:  Just reformatted them to QuickTime
so you mac users could enjoy as well!

* Linda's dad in a much better place -  It's been a difficult past few weeks for
our family so firstly we want to say
"thank you" for keeping us all in

prayer.   All of your emails, calls and
                                                                   cards of encouragement have been
                                                                   incredible!  Really
!  Linda's dad went
to be with the Lord early Sunday
morning, July 6th , and he went
                                                                   peacefully.   Linda and her brother
sang and worshipped with him until

the middle of the night when he
simply fell asleep in his earthly body

Dalton Donell Gould - Dec. 21, 1931 - July 6, 2008
and awoke unto eternity.  I especially want to thank those of you who made sure
Linda and I could be here during this time.  You cannot imagine what a blessing
that has been.  And also to those of you who have sent cards, flowers and
memorials afterwards.  I think it's quite a testimony to his life that he wanted any
monies to go to places like the South Texas Children's Center, Bluebonnet
Youth Ranch, or to the work we're doing with Mozambican kids.  He loved kids,
and loved seeing them come to the saving knowledge of their loving Father.  He
wanted to pour what he had into what they might be.  Dal was a wonderful
husband, an encouraging father and an incredible man - quick to help,
consistent in love, peaceful, graceful and kind.  He would listen in the way that
made you believe that what was going on in your life was the most important
thing in the world, and when he did speak, it was with understanding and faith.
If I could be remembered looking like Jesus the same way Dal looked like Jesus,
then I would have done well.  Thank you Lord for the gift of Linda's dad,  and
thank you Dal for setting the bar of who we can be, so high.  We will miss you.

*  Prayer needs -  Some of you may remember seeing pictures of Sina during
our presentations.  She was one of the
"miracle babies" God had brought into our

lives a couple of years ago.  She   came in on
the edge of death but then through 24/7

prayer, love and care - lived.  And not only

"lived," but over this last year and a half has

thrived.  Everything has been going really

well for this little girl, but then just a couple of

days ago (July 17th), we got an urgent prayer
request from Tracey, the missionary working with her.  Sina was having
uncontrollable convulsions and had to be rushed to the hospital.  She went
unconscious and had to be hooked up to a feeding tube.  Today (July 18th), we
got an email praising the Lord and thanking all who had prayed because she
awoke and was playing around.  Having said that, please pray for wisdom for
the doctors as well as those who live and work with her at the center.  The
doctors want to run more tests to determine what caused the convulsions in her.

* For safe passage back to Mozambique.  We've booked tickets for the 29th of
July and will arrive back in Africa on the 31st.  We got a really low fare but it
means going through Dubai and spending the night there.  We trust that God
will use all things to His glory.

* And that God would use our separation from the boys as a way to model even
more the significance of family and the love and depth that goes with that.
